It has been a very busy summer 2014 for D and D Roller Shutters. We have traveled the length and breadth of the UK, from fitting transparent security roller shutters for shops in Aberdeen in Scotland, domestic roller shutters for homes around Edinburgh, PVC curtains for a new business adventure in Glasgow and ongoing maintenance and safety checks for the roller shutters at Hampden Park in Glasgow. That’s just some of the work we have carried out recently in Scotland.
Heading down the country D and D Roller Shutters has been, supporting local churches in Newcastle with the installation of new steel doors and roller shutters to help prevent local vandalism, PVC Plastic Strip Curtains for warehouses in Hyde Manchester, shop front shutters for retailers in Oldham, Burnley and Preston and fitting fire doors and retractable gates for offices in York, Huddersfield, Bradford and the towns in and around Manchester.
As we head down to the Midlands we have been busy fitting a fire shutter for a heli port near Nottingham, supporting a local charity shop in Northampton with new transparent roller shutters, installing new retractable security gates to offices in Coventry and a stunning roller garage door to a home in Luton. We should not forget the beautiful south coast where we have installed home security shutters in Plymouth and roller shutters to local workshops.

Transparent Security Roller Shutters
Roller Shutter Installations in Aberdeen & Northampton
Two brand new Cash Convertor Shops in Aberdeen required security roller shutters to secure the premises from burglary and vandalism but the client also required the shutters to be visually appealing, aloud light into the shop and for potential customers to see into the shop even when it was closed. The ideal product was our New SecurityVision range of security roller shutters. The Vision 800 Roller Shutter uses extruded aluminium providing maximum strength while delivering 58.5% vision. Optional 1.5 mm polycarbonate inserts further enhance security on external installations. These transparent shutters can also be used as bar or kiosk shutters where permanent vision is required.
In Northampton Action Support wanted discreet security roller shutters as both themselves and the council did not want to detract from the streets existing character. New Security installed an internal security roller shutter, powder coated in black, that provided both security and vision.
Roller Shutter Installations in Newcastle and York
St Michaels in Newcastle have been supporting the local community by running a variety of creative workshops. Unfortunately they have been plagued by vandalism. They asked D and D Roller Shutters to design a roller shutter that was both strong to protect the outside workshop but would blend in with the environment. We installed a manual, steel galvanised roller shutter door, powder coated brown that complements the surrounding garden area.
Offices in York wanted the old office door replacing with a brand new steel door, with laminated glass inserts, plus a security roller shutter for enhanced security. D and D Roller Shutters installed an electric roller shutter with a battery backup, in case of power failure, powder coated to match the new steel door which we installed at the same time.

Home Security Shutter Installation Tillicoultry
Home Security Shutters are becoming increasingly popular to protect homes from burglary and vandalism. Domestic security shutters are ideal over vulnerable patio doors and windows. Shutters can be provided manual or electric and powder coated in a range of colours to complement the rest of the home. The security shutters that we installed in Tillicoultry were fitted at the rear of the property to protect both the windows and patio door. They were manufactured from extruded Aluminium for extra security and powder coated white to match the rest of the decor. I think you would agree the shutters look stunning but they will also deliver invaluable protection for you home, valuables and family providing complete peace of mind.
Retractable Security Gates
Installation in Coventry
Offices in Coventry required old and insecure security gates to be replaced by new. We installed a pre galvanised security retractable gate with a multi point locking system for increased security. Locks were keyed alike to remove the need for large bunch of keys being carried around. A removable bottom track was fitted for ease of use during office hours. The security gate was powder coated in RAL 9016 to complement the rest of the office.
These security retractable gates are ideal over small doorways for increased security and are a cheaper alternative to roller shutters. Retractable gates also provide great security for the home over patio doors and french windows.
Steel Doors
Steel Door Installations in Newcastle and York
D and D Roller Shutters have installed numerous steel doors over recent months and here is just an example of 2 that we have recently completed. Steel doors can be ordered in standard door sizes for immediate dispatch but if you are looking for something different we can accommodate you too with our bespoke range of steel doors.
St. Michaels required a steel door for their church as it had suffered from attempted burglaries and was being regularly vandalised. D and D Roller Shutters fitted for them a steel fire exit door with an internal crash bar exit and an external key entry.
Our clients in York required a steel door that complemented their office, was visually appealing but also provided security for their premises. We installed a steel security door complete with locking system and 2 large glass windows positioned vertically in line. The steel door was powder coated to match the roller shutter we installed at the same time.
PVC Plastic Strip Curtains
D and D Roller Shutters assisted in the refurbishment of an industrial unit in Hyde Manchester, on behalf of a major North West landlord. The previous tenant had vacated and a new tenant was sought which required a refurbishment part of which was the replacement of an old PVC industrial curtain with a new clear transparent PVC curtain with red safety edges. The PVC curtain was fitted adjacent to the industrial steel roller shutter which D and D Roller Shutters also serviced and checked for safety.
A success story in Edinburgh is that of Union of Genius a new start company that produces a variety of delicious and unique fresh soups for the restaurants of Edinburgh. The soups are quaintly and efficiently delivered by tricycle and pedal power. At their production unit they required a PVC curtain adjacent to the sectional door to minimise dust but to allow light and fresh air into the premises and swift access for the tricycles. D and D Roller Shutters designed a supportive steel frame work, PVC curtains and sealed them to the sectional door using industrial strip brushes.
